    The Hacker's Ethics

Extract from "The ethics of hacking":
    1. Information is power; therefore information should be free.
    2. Corporations and government cannot be trusted to use computer technology for the benefit of ordinary people.
    3. Corporations and government cannot be trusted to guarantee privacy and freedom of speech on the Internet.
    4. Unless we understand computer and networks, we will be enslaved by corporations and governments that do.
    5. Computers are enabling tools capable of enhancing creativity, placing the potential to create art and music in the hands of ordinary people.
    6. The invention of the WWW is like the invention of the printing press, but places the power to communicate in the hands of ordinary people instead of the church and state.
    7. Access to computers enhances life and unleashes creativity within individuals, which benefits all of the community.
    8. Access to computers should be for everyone, not just the wealthy "information-rich" middle classes.
    9. Access to a global network of computers enables the creation of a rich diversity of virtual communities.

This extract is food for thought...
It's amazing with the growth of online facilities like forums, chat rooms, instant messaging, etc...how virtual communities has grown in importance.  Will the communities of the future take place in a virtual environment? Will the future generation kids play games gazing at a 17" monitor instead of outdoors breathing fresh air? Will our children go to school in a proper classroom or a virtual classroom? All these questions...only time will tell. In a certain sense, all these ARE actually already happening...scary, init? However, let us look at both sides of the coin, virtual environments do have their own positive characteristics...it brings the world closer and encourages communication, and in a certain sense, reduces the inequality between people and races, making earth a global village, in the true sense of the word.

Anyway, enough of my blabla now...time for a laugh - http://www.care2.com/
    Cheers,
    Sab:)

I found an old song which i sang once at high school...it's one of my old time favorite songs....i just LOVE it! Listen to the lyrics, they have so much meaning and truth. [Des'ree: You gotta be]
    Love always,

    It's gonna snow again....

It's gonna snow again on thursday! I saw it on the weather forecast.
This time, i'll definitely be ready and waiting! hahaha! Do I sound pathetic??? :P

Anywayz, the past week has been quite memorable. I met a good mate of mine, we worked at KPMG together 3 years ago and he and his friends took me to this mauritian restaurant at Acton Town. They even had Phoenix Beer! LOL! The food reminded me of very good memories back home:P (Nad, thanks for the treat again!!!) You ROCK man!!

Then, I also met Beni (from the Philippines), who's a friend of another mate of mine who works at Accenture Mauritius. She's here for a couple of months to work at the client side. We had filipino food together for lunch! It was as yummy as ever!!! Btw, i think i've put on weight a kilo or two maybe, and the issue here is whether i should take it as good news or bad news! I've been eating like crazy these days, so obviously, the increase in weight was kinda much expected anyway!

The london aquarium was very interesting although some people mentioned to me that it was just a waste of time for me, since I come from a tropical island, and most probably the aquarium in Mauritius is much more interesting! But, guys and gals, i'll have to disagree with that. Actually, i have to admit, the aquarium here wasnt up to my expectations, but nevertheless, I did learn loads of new stuff and saw some amazing creatures! Feride, thanks for the ticket! :P I owe you one xxxxx

Otherwise, we're now in week 4, and the assignments are starting to flow in, i guess it's time for calming down and getting in a serious mood for studying....arrrr....but as usual, procrastination is my motto! :P (Old QEC habit of mine :P) Some people tend to work better under pressure, right? 100% perfection is unattainable, but at least 99% is attainable :)

    Keep the love going strong,
    xxx,
    Sab:)
